It feels like 2020 has come to a halt as we deal with the corona-virus pandemic. Understandably, it hasn’t been business as usual for the sneaker industry with a lot of releases being postponed to a later date, including some of this year’s most anticipated releases like Dior’s Air Jordan 1 collaboration. However, we can’t forget some of the best releases of 2020 that have already taken place. The first 2 months of 2020 was quite eventful for sneaker enthusiasts. Here are our top 3 drops of the year so far…
1. Stussy x Nike Air Zoom Spiridon Caged 2
One of Nike’s more recent releases include their collaboration with Stussy. There is another colourway alternative that is coated with a reflective layer and a darker colourway; however, we picked this one for our top 3 due to its contrasting pallet and unique material. This design is a stand out due to the use of different textures using the same material and colour with the shoes unique structure and distinctive rope detail.
2. Adidas Yeezy 700 V3 Alvah
Released on February 15th, aiming to gain the attention they deserve during the All Star Weekend, we have our second selection; the newest release of the V3’s. The whole architecture of the shoe consists of bulk at the bottom with an angled smooth domed around the rise, giving the shoe its distinctive shape. Although the colour scheme is nothing out of the ordinary, the structure is the main reason this shoe made it to our top 3.
3. Jordan 13 Retro Chinese New Year
The glossy pink outsole contrasted against the gold suede and textured pattern embossed on the upper section of the body, makes this pair stand out compared to other drops from this year. There have been many previous drops and variations of the Jordan New Year collections that they’ve released in the past, but the Jordan 13 Chinese New Year comfortably sits at the top amongst them too.
